We are delighted to share that Leukeather was featured in the exhibition Niche: Leukeather Goods by designer and architect Nuhayr Zein, running at 1971 – Design Space, Sharjah (18 May 2025 – 23 Oct 2025).
This exhibition brought together our material innovation, design research and cultural narrative, giving visitors a chance to experience Leukeather beyond product form: as a story of materiality, heritage and sustainability.
What was looked for in the exhibition:
Objects crafted using Leukeather: furniture, accessories or installations that show the tactile, visual and functional qualities of the material.
Insights into how the pods are sourced, how the material was developed and how a ‘waste’ stream became high-value.
An exploration of identity and place: Zein’s Egyptian heritage, UAE-based practice and the dialogue between tradition and innovation.
Visiting the exhibition was a great opportunity for designers, students, sustainability enthusiasts and anyone curious about the future of materials to see how plant-based leather alternatives could become part of high design storytelling and how Leukeather was at the forefront of this conversation.
